Hi, it’s Jason here and today I get to share my 30 Days Wild adventure – in the hills on my bike.
The last few weekends we’ve been away camping so I haven’t had time to spend on my first love – my mountain bike 😉
Most of my mountain bike adventures are focused on adrenaline-fueled descents, and riding to the top is just a necessity. Ok, so going up the way allows some time for a blether amongst mates so it’s not all bad, but it’s not that good either.
Today was different. After some encouragement from Liann to “slow down and smell the roses” I decided to have a ride in the Pentland Hills, Edinburgh, not too far from home. I decided to ride a route I’ve not ridden for a few years (as I had put it in the too boring bin). I would head out with the aim to get some exercise, and just take it all in.
Wow! What a day! So many birds calling from their heather homes. The wind gently blowing through the grasses. The views. Man, the views. It was so clear I could see much farther than usual.
In my normal mountain bike calculator, my 23km, 600m climbing, and only 2 interesting descents – would be classified as “not worth the effort”.
Today was different. Today was Day 18 of 30 Days Wild, and I loved it. And now my legs are sore…..
