There is a little park on my street. It’s a lovely park, beautifully maintained and well used by locals. Except for me, that is. Up until now, I’d rarely take the time to walk through as it’s the “long way round.”
I walk a lot. I’d usually take the quickest route, walking with the intention of getting from A to B as quickly as possible.
30 Days Wild has changed the way I think about my walks. Today I decided to make a detour through the park. I meandered through, taking my time to notice what was there. And taking the time to literally smell the roses.
The bees were in heaven in a lush bank of lavender, and I was in heaven inhaling rose perfume.
It was the right decision to make the detour. I’ll be going the long way round in future.
